Emmanuel Baptist Church welcomes Senator Steve Buehrer as the Keynote Speaker for our Civic Appreciation Day, Friday May 2, 2008 from Noon until 1:00 pm.  Senator Buehrer is serving his first term as the Ohio State Senator representing Senate District 1.  Prior to being elected as State Senator, Senator Buehrer served as a State Representative for 8 years.  Originally from Delta, Ohio, Senator Buehrer is a practicing attorney and operates a small business with his wife Cathy.  Senator and Mrs. Buehrer have three sons, Benjamin, Simon, and Daniel.  

EBC's Civic Appreciation Day is designed to recognize the governmental and civic leaders of Paulding County, to express our appreciation for their service, and to let them know that the people of EBC are praying for them.  A complimentary lunch will be provided for invited guests who have RSVPed for the event.  Among the guests already confirmed for this event are the Paulding County Commissioners, Recorder, Clerk of Courts, Sheriff, Auditor, County Court Judge, and Engineer; Paulding Village Council Members, Mayor, Solicitor, Finance Director, Administrator, and Police Officers; and numerous Paulding civic and business leaders.

A few weeks ago, I sent an email to our church family which described Oprah Winfrey's efforts to promote a book entitled "A Course in Miracles."  I warned our church family that this book was a dangerous new aged attempt to distort the Biblical picture of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Yesterday, I received another forward from a pastor friend of mine that alerted me to yet another book that Oprah is promoting called "A New Earth."  If you thought the information about "A Course in Miracles" was scary, just wait until you see the information about "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle. 

I’m excited to introduce you to EBC, an exciting, growing church.  If you are visiting our site from Northwest Ohio, we’d like to invite you to visit us in person at one of our three weekly services.  We would love to meet you!

Our church is a warm and friendly church where people are quickly made to feel welcome.  How can I say this so confidently?  Because I was a visitor here myself in June 2005 – not a visiting pastor, but just an out-of-town visitor looking for a place to worship while visiting family in the local area.  My family and I found EBC to be incredibly warm and friendly.  As they say, “the rest in history,” and God used the relationship that my family and I formed with the EBC family to lead to my calling as the pastor.  I’m confident that your experience at EBC would be equally positive.  EBC is a place to make friends with people who really care!

We are excited about what the Lord is doing at EBC.  As we preach and teach the Bible as God’s Word, people’s lives are being changed and new people are being added to our number.  We sing the hymns that many people remember singing in church and enjoy each other’s fellowship before, during, and after our services and at other special events.  After attending our services, many people have made comments such as, “I look forward to coming to church again” or “Church is exciting to me again.”
